Eli Ayase - Yume no Tobira

Yume no Tobira is one of the OG iconic Love Live songs performed by μ's. I love the song and the costumes and the dance - this cosplay is a joy to me.

This cosplay was purchased with my previous idol group Shining Bright, and has been through two series of upgrades.

First, it was customised with the group for our performance at Central Coast Comicon 2019. This consisted of adding sequin trim on the skirt, diamantés to the sleeves, and replacing the ribbon, choker, gloves and flower crown that came with the original cosplay. I also needed to take mine in.

After leaving the group I changed it up to reflect my own tastes better. I removed the diamantés and added sequins to the sleeves, and changed out the ribbon and choker again. I love this iteration!

I used this cosplay as an example in a video on how to improve store-bought cosplays for my YouTube channel (linked below). Fun fact - I met another cosplayer in person who later on told me they'd watched that video ages ago and didn't realise it was me!

Cosplay upgrade video

I thought the process of embellishing this cosplay would make for an interesting YouTube video, because it really shows how much of a difference upgrading a store-bought cosplay can make. And how may different ways there are to upgrade something!

Backyard photoshoot

This shoot was really fun. I'd completed changing up the decoration on the costume and the camellia hedge flowering was a perfect opportunity to take version two out for a spin. As usual, James took excellent shots for me - these are still some of my favourite cosplay shots.

C4 2019 performance

This performance was a lot of fun. It was a brilliant day, the audience enjoyed us, and even my mum came to watch. James was also amazing and got some brilliant action shots!

Central Coast Comiccon 2019

C4 2019 was a big one for me. Shining Bright performed on the main stage and we were very glittery and shiny (hehe) in the sunlight. Pre-performance, we got some headshots.
